Art & Design by Smalls
You can have the greatest game idea in the world but if the artwork doesn’t match then you won’t attract the attention it deserves.
When designing artwork for games, products and business, I like to create readable, eye-catching work by using clever colour choices and solid geometry. This helps get across the message the card or element is trying to portray clearly, as well as establish an intuitive visual ‘language’.
Tick Tock Click Bang
This is a game I am currently developing, It consists of all the physical elements of the game including board, cards and stand up characters, and all the digital elements for the game to be play tested digitally or made into digital formats. I’ve also wcreated custom dice and counter elements that are bespoke to the game play.
It’s a mini deck build, mini skirmish wild west shoot out game. Below is at least one card from each deck, as well as a few of the characters.

KingsFall
This is a game I initially created before I started working on my current idea - ‘Tick Tock Click Bang’. I developed the initial logo, card layouts and artwork for Kingsfall, along with a couple of character concepts, but ended up investing more of my time into ‘Tick Tock’ so Kingsfall was put on hold.
Kingsfall is a fantasy battle game about managing and deploying troops to gain the advantage. I’ve included at least one card from each deck, as well as a few of the characters.

BRIEF - Create card Layout - Card Design back and front - Character Illustration - Board design and layout

Mono logo for 'KingsFall' the game was about the conflict that came with trying to claim a kingdom after the demise of a king. The sword portrays conflict and the crown upside down means that things have taken a turn for the worst.

This is a clansman which is the main unit in each clan, the clan is about speed, deserts and hyenas

This is an illustration of a wizard type from one of the many 'clans' in the game

Card Layout for 'KingsFall' displays attack, defence, movement and 'power' stats, power stat is on the top left for 'in-hand' ease

Card back for 'KingsFall' each clan had a unique look comprising of a pattern, colour scheme and iconography for ease.

This is another wizard type of a different clan, they are about storms & boats and military strength

This is an illustration of a character that boosts attack power

This is a card front for a different clan

This is the card back, with it's own unique 'visual language'

Other Work
Alongside working on game design, I’ve done extensive graphic design work for other ventures including App development, Business branding, in-store branding, and marketing literature. I’ve also been known to be fond of a commission portrait. Heres a few examples of this.

This is not board game related, but I like it and it shows I can do logos/branding :)

I did my own logo! I wanted it to portray simple, friendly & abstract
